2015 - 2016
Emma's current artistic practice explores collaborative sculpture and printmaking. She devises frameworks for communication and creativity, directly involving other people in the production of the work via their text-based contributions. The project she is developing as part of Klick Oxford-Leiden, has so far involved carving poetry into reclaimed bicycle tyres, forming both sculptures and prints made from applying ink to and rolling the carved wheels. The poetry is written by people linked with a range of community organisations, such as Trax, Oxfordshire Mind, Cyclox and Artweeks. Over the next year, she will be finding similar organisations in Leiden to work with and making links between them and their Oxford counterparts, and working with her colleagues to develop new projects.
